Repair or replace a foil wing? How to compare the options

Repaired carbon front wing and stabilizer after surface finishing

Compare the damage assessment first and the prices second. A cosmetic repair and a replacement solve different problems if the original part has structural damage. Once you know what can be restored, compare a written repair quote with the price of a compatible replacement, including any delivery or fitting costs.

What is the repair meant to restore?

Ask the repairer to describe the proposed work. Does it address a surface mark, a filled groove or missing material at an edge? What will be inspected, and what will remain uncertain?

FoilRevive works on surface damage, including scratches, grooves and chipped tips and edges. A crack or suspected structural damage needs an assessment before a decision. Photographs are a starting point; some questions need the actual part.

Our damage guide and inspection checklist help you prepare that conversation.

How much does foil repair cost?

At FoilRevive, repair starts at Rs 5,500 for a front wing + stabilizer set. The final price depends on the type and extent of the damage. This is a starting price for the set, not a fixed price for every job or a published single-wing price.

Send photographs for a quote on your parts. For just one wing or stabilizer, ask for a separate estimate. The prices page explains what affects the amount.

Compare like-for-like costs

Use the same scope on both sides of the comparison:

  1. Repair: the confirmed work, quoted price, any transport cost and the expected return date.
  2. Replacement: the correct model and connection system, purchase price, delivery and any additional compatible hardware.
  3. Result: what the repair is expected to restore, compared with the condition and warranty of the replacement.

A cheaper advertised wing is not necessarily a substitute for yours. Confirm compatibility before ordering. If considering a used part, its condition also belongs in the comparison; ask for clear photos and a damage history.

Does the warranty change the decision?

Check with the dealer first if the damage may be a manufacturing defect. Keep your photographs and purchase information. Armstrong, for example, excludes unauthorized repairs from its warranty; other brands have their own conditions.

Do not assume either that an impact is covered or that a repair will preserve every later warranty claim. Ask about your specific part before anyone modifies it.

What should you ask before deciding?

  • Which damage is included in this quote?
  • Is an inspection needed before confirming it?
  • What does the proposed repair restore, and what are its limits?
  • What is the expected timing?
  • If replacement is recommended, which component actually needs replacing?

There is no universal percentage of replacement cost at which every repair becomes worthwhile. Your decision depends on the assessed damage, the proposed result, compatibility, availability and the full cost.

Send us a close-up and a photo of the whole part, with the brand and model. We will explain what the surface repair would involve so you can compare the options.
